Neuroinflammatory Conditions

Do you experience brain fog, difficulty concentrating, chronic fatigue, or memory issues? These symptoms can significantly impact daily life and may be indicative of underlying factors such as chronic inflammation, hormonal imbalances, nutritional deficiencies, or other health imbalances. Exploring an integrative approach can help identify and address the root causes, restoring mental clarity, energy, and cognitive function.

What is Neuroinflammation?

Neuroinflammation is a complex biological process involving inflammation within the central nervous system (CNS), which includes the brain and spinal cord. It is a response triggered by various factors such as infection, injury, toxins, autoimmune disorders, or chronic conditions.

Neuroinflammation occurs as a result of immune cells in the CNS being inappropriately or excessively activated, leading to the release of pro-inflammatory molecules and the recruitment of additional immune cells to the affected area. While this inflammatory process is a crucial defense mechanism to protect our body from further damage, having chronic or excessive neuroinflammation can have detrimental effects on neuronal function and contribute to the development and progression of various neurological disorders.

By understanding and addressing neuroinflammation through an integrative approach, we aim to support the body's innate healing processes, minimize inflammation, and promote optimal neurological well-being.

Headache

Signs of Neuroinflammation

There are many signs of neuroinflammation which include:
Brain fog (difficulty thinking clearly)
Attention/Focus deficits (need for external stimulants such as caffeine/sugar to pay
attention or follow through on tasks)
Changes in handwriting
Cogwheeling (marked rigidity in muscle movement)
Photophobia (light sensitivity)
Loss of smell
Tremors (uncontrolled muscular shaking either at rest or with movement)
Memory problems (long or short term memory changes)
Change in gait (changes in the way you walk, i.e. shuffling, loss of arm swing)
Balance issues

Neuroinflammatory Conditions

We treat various types of neuroinflammatory disorders
that can be addressed using an integrative approach.
Multiple Sclerosis (MS)

MS is an autoimmune disease characterized by inflammation and damage to the protective covering of nerve fibers in the CNS. Naturopathic interventions focus on modulating the immune system, reducing inflammation, and supporting nerve repair and regeneration.

Neuroinflammatory Conditions
Parkinson's Disease

Parkinson's is a neurodegenerative disorder that involves chronic inflammation and the progressive loss of dopamine-producing cells in the brain. Naturopathic approaches aim to address inflammation, support antioxidant defenses, optimize mitochondrial function, and enhance neuroprotective mechanisms.

Neuroinflammatory Conditions
Alzheimer's Disease/Dementia

Alzheimer's is a neurodegenerative condition associated with chronic brain inflammation and the accumulation of abnormal protein plaques. Naturopathic interventions focus on reducing inflammation, supporting cognitive function, and addressing underlying contributing factors such as oxidative stress and mitochondrial dysfunction.

headache
Chronic Migraines & Headaches

Migraines are a neurological disorder characterized by severe recurring headaches often accompanied by other symptoms like nausea and sensitivity to light. Headaches, on the other hand, refer to pain or discomfort in the head and can have various causes, including tension, sinus issues, or dehydration. Naturopathic approaches aim to identify triggers, address underlying inflammation, balance neurotransmitters, and support overall brain health.

Neuropathic
Pain

Neuropathic pain arises from damage or dysfunction of the nerves and is often associated with neuroinflammatory processes. Naturopathic interventions may include anti-inflammatory support, nerve regeneration support, and personalized pain management strategies.

dyslexia
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

ASD is a neurodevelopmental disorder where neuroinflammation and immune dysregulation may play a role. Naturopathic approaches aim to reduce inflammation, support gut health, optimize nutrient status, detect and treat underlying infections, and address underlying imbalances that contribute to neurological symptoms.

Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)

TBI can occur from trauma to the head, or secondary trauma to the head from whiplash. This usually occurs in car accidents, contact sports, electroshock therapy, or falls. TBIs become more easily triggered and cause worse symptoms with each subsequent injury to the head. TBIs should be treated quickly in order to prevent long term neuroinflammatory and hormonal changes.

Underlying Causes of Neuroinflammation

Trauma to the head etc.)Long term nutrient deprivation (i.e. zinc, vitamin D3, choline, B12, B9, serine,  Chronic inflammation co-infections, etc.)

Chronic Infections (HHV6, HHV7, Lyme disease, Mold exposure, Lyme  use, etc.)

Chronic digestive disorders (Crohn’s, Ulcerative colitis, IBS, SIBO, chronic PPI  T4, Growth Hormone)

Hormonal Deficiencies (i.e. Testosterone, DHEA, Estradiol, Pregnenolone, T3,  Autoimmunity (i.e. autoimmunity to neurotransmitter receptors)

Neurotransmitter Imbalances (deficiencies or overproduction in dopamine, epinephrine, norepinephrine, acetylcholine, serotonin, GABA, glutamate, etc.)

Comprehensive Treatment Approach

From a naturopathic perspective, we aim to uncover hidden imbalances that may be triggering inflammation in the nervous system. This starts with a comprehensive medical intake and ordering advanced laboratory panels. Depending on your unique case, we may recommend hormone testing, heavy metal testing, infection panels, or genetic testing.

From this valuable information, we can create an individualized treatment plan that may include nutrition optimization, targeted supplementation, herbal medicine, stress management techniques, lifestyle adjustments, compounded nutrient therapy, and compounded peptide therapy.

Our approach focuses on identifying and resolving the core issues that give rise to neurological inflammation and to prevent the progression of disease, with the intention of supporting your nervous system's optimal state of well-being.
